We had such lovely weather for this session!  It was such a beautiful day outside and just the right temperature.  I always feel bad for brides doing bridal portraits on warm days because wedding dresses can make you very hot very fast.  Erin did great!  It helps that she’s gorgeous!  She has those tiny little model arms that most girls would kill for.  All of a sudden she just started working it for me!  Check out this fierceness I was so proud -

People ask me all the time what to wear for their photo shoots.  I tell people to coordinate but not match.  Pick a color scheme of about three colors (preferably one that goes with their living room, office, bedroom or wherever they will hang their final prints) and build outfits from there.  I have put together several different outfit combinations based on different color schemes to show you as examples!  I chose to build outfits from affordable stores like Old Navy, Forever 21, and American Eagle so you can see how easy it is to look cute on a budge.  Click on the photos to see purchasing information, or just use these outfits as inspiration and shop in your closet from what you already have.  Think layers and textures.  Hats, scarves, jackets, vests, tights, shoes and jewelry all make outfits more visually interesting.

This first set is comprised of clothes from Old Navy and accessories and shoes from Old Navy and other places.  I just loooove aqua!!

This set of outfits would be great for my family (if I had three kids =) because it is using the color scheme of my living room!  My walls are sea green, my couch is brown and we have a blue chair with white shelves.  Next to the living room is the kitchen where you see my red chairs.  And these outfits are all from Old Navy.  It doesn’t have to be expensive to buy great outfits!  This set includes an outfit for a baby boy as well.  Moms, this sweater is nice for you if there are any areas you may want to hide

This set is made up of outfits from different stores.  Mom’s outfit is from Forever 21, with shoes by Jessica Simpson, Dad’s is from American Eagle and the kids’ outfits are from Old Navy.

Saturday afternoon, I met Mackenzie, her mom and her friend down at the canals of Las Colinas.  It is so beautiful down there, and so quiet!  The only other people we saw were other people doing portrait sessions!  Mackenzie was a trooper to wear her gorgeous gown in the heat of the late afternoon!  Mackenzie, I don’t know how you did it, I was soaked through and through, there are sweat stains on the strap of my bag (attractive I know).  Fun fact:  Danielle who won my recent contest, is one of Mackenzie’s BFF’s!  And now without further ado, here are Mackenzie’s bridal portraits -

I’m so excited to finally get to share these photos!  They were taken back in early April but Jess’ nosey groom Dan, wouldn’t promise not to go sneak a peak if I posted them.  But after a year long engagement they were married this weekend and I was honored to one of her bridesmaids.

This shoot was sooo much fun because a) Jess is my friend 2) Jess is gorgeous 3) Jess knows how to work it for the camera.  A winning combination if you ask me!  Dan & Jess I love y’all so much and I hope you’re having a fantastic time on your honeymoon!

Today, all three of us in the little Dreyer family are battling colds.  I stayed in my pjs all day yesterday and it’s looking good for all day today as well.  Shep is taking a nap, and Jake fell asleep on the couch in front of the TV.  Now would be the perfect time for me to take a little nap of my own since I feel like poop, but I’m not napping.  I’m at my computer editing pictures.  Why?  Because I love my job!  I had a fantastically fun shoot on Saturday and since I force myself to rest on Sundays, I couldn’t wait to go through all those pictures and start editing them!  I’m like a little kid opening a present after every shoot.  I can’t WAIT to see what I got.  I can’t WAIT to get into Photoshop and make a great photo even more fabulous.  It thrills me every time!  Jake knows to leave me alone when I get home from a wedding or a shoot for at least an hour because he knows I’ll get lost in the photos for a little while before I bring myself back to earth.

I’m so excited about my own excitement because I realized today that I’ve never had a job that I loved SO much that I gave up a napping opportunity for it.  I mean hello!  It’s one of my life rules that when life gives you the opportunity to nap take it, cause you never know when you’ll get the opportunity again.  But I’m breaking my own rule today.  Happily.  I’ve found ‘it.’  The meaningful work that makes me tick.  It’s like on Chariots of Fire when he says, “…when I run I feel His (God’s) pleasure.”  I feel so blessed that I have the opportunity to follow my dreams and to see how God is at work in every detail.

I just wanted to take a minute and express my gratitude to God and to all my clients who make my wonderful job possible!  Thank you for letting me photograph you!

Wow.  I can’t believe how overloaded I still feel after WPPI last week.  It was amaaaaazing.  I learned so much, met so many fun people and wore myself out, but it was totally worth it.   I am definitely still recovering!  Kate and I had so much fun being nerdy and girly together and we made a new friend Garrett Davis who put up with us all week.  We met Jessica Claire, Becker, Jasmine Star, Mike Colon and Scarlett Lillian.  We had a great (but exhausting time) working at the Shootsac Booth with Keats Elliot and Matt Davis.

On Monday night, I got to participate in a night shoot put together by Scarlett Lillian.  It was sooo much fun!  The energy of the 20 something photographers was really exciting.  In fact, since there were so many of us running around the hotel with all our gear, people definitely thought we were the paparazzi and that Lyndsay and Anderson our bride and groom models were famous.  One lady really didn’t believe me when I told her they weren’t!

I want to dedicate these photos to Johnny Williams, Scarlett’s daddy who passed away on Saturday morning.  He was so proud of her and what she has accomplished as a woman and photographer.  She sacrificed time with him in order to teach and encourage us because he wanted her to keep living her life and moving forward.  Scarlett, thank you so much for doing this for us, I know your daddy is smiling down with Jesus on you.

On Saturday, I went down to Lakeside Park to do Odille’s bridal portraits.  Her sister Odette and I had a fun time helped her into her dress right there in the park.  I held up a blanket while her sister did the dress, it was very daring!  Here are some of my favorites.

Saturday before all the craziness hit (My mom getting in an accident and Jake injuring his ankle) Jake and I went out to Stonebridge Ranch in McKinney to do Ashley’s bridals.  She and Chris will be getting married there in March, I’m very excited for their wedding!
